Blake T. Haskell passed away September 30, 2021, at South Shore Hospital in Massachusetts with his wife Deb by his side. Haskell started at Boston EMS as one of the first EMT telecommunicators that co-occupied the Boston Police Department “Turret” in the 1970s. From there he went to work for the city of New York Office of Telecommunications Control where he oversaw the city’s new 800Mhz citywide radio system.

He then took a position with Metro-Mobile Cellular Phone company when cell phones were in their infancy. He worked with Metro-Mobile till they were acquired by Cellular One. During that time, he married Deb. After the Cellular One takeover of Metro-Mobile Haskell worked with AT&T site acquisition. In 2000, Haskell Founded J.D. Hunter Inc. and moved to Hull Ma. He specialized in site acquisition and Comm. Center design.

Haskell gained the trust and friendship of many in the 9-1-1 profession. His kindness and love of public safety was beyond measure.

One of Haskell’s proudest accomplishments was his consultancy work for Steve Hooke on the Holbrook Regional Communications Center.

Haskell was a proud member of the Atlantic Chapter and spent many years sharing stories and knowledge at its conferences.
