Do You Trust Me? Psychological Safety in the PSAP

APCO International August 15, 2019 Industry
Wednesday, August 14, 1:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Presenter: Erin Yeung, Reno Public Safety Dispatch

This was an interesting and humorous late session filled with laughs and information. Yeung walked us through how to set up the ECC for maximum input from all by creating an environment where all are free to share opinions respectfully.

With research from Pixar, Google and Dr. Amy Edmondson, this presentation shared how creating that open environment actually leads to fewer mistakes, a more engaged team and better physical well being.

“Psychological safety is important for growing morale and trust in the ECC,” said Yeung, “and it can easily be ignored or blown off as a simpler concept.”
