Automated Secure Alarm Protocol Expands into Tennessee

APCO International November 29, 2017 Uncategorized
Hamilton County TN Emergency Communications District Implements ASAP

The Hamilton County, Tennessee, Emergency Communications District became the 30th agency in the United States and the first PSAP in Tennessee to implement the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol program on Nov. 1. Tennessee became the 11th state plus the District of Columbia to open the state switch to PSAPs to take advantage of the ASAP program. This was TriTech’s second Inform CAD platform ASAP implementation.

As of Nov. 28, Hamilton County had received 259 alarm notifications via the ASAP interface. One of these alarms, a burglary alarm, resulted in a felony arrest due to a rapid response by law enforcement.

Hamilton County went live first with Nashville-based ADS Security followed by Vector Security, Rapid Response, Guardian, Protection One, Vivint, Affiliated and Monitronics. ADT is scheduled to go live with Hamilton County in December.

About ASAP
The ASAP Alarm Interface is based on the APCO/CSAA 2.101.2-2014 American National Standard for alarm monitoring companies to directly transmit alarm event data into the appropriate CAD system. This direct, computer-to-computer interface dramatically reduces alarm response times and human error by removing the requirement for a voice call between the alarm monitoring company and the 9-1-1 center. In addition, it frees up valuable telecommunicator time to answer 9-1-1 calls and assist other callers. The standard is available for download at APCO/CSAA 2.101.2-2014 American National Standard.
