Meet Your AFC Advisors: Jim Kowalik (New Hampshire)

AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Please feel free to reach out to our local advisors with any questions dealing with FCC Part 90 licensing and frequency coordination.

jimkowalikJim Kowalik of Pembroke, New Hampshire has been a local frequency advisor for 16 years. He has been employed by the New Hampshire Department of Safety State Police Division for over 30 years and currently holds the position of Communications Supervisor II.

As the APCO AFC Local Advisor for New Hampshire, he handles all N.H. APCO applications, adjacent state and inter-service concurrences, and interference complaints. He enjoys the direct interaction with fellow New England Region APCO AFC local advisors and shares his knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations with local, county, state, and federal entities in the region. He was presented with the APCO International Senior Member award at the October 2014 Atlantic Chapter Conference in Bretton Woods, N.H.

Prior to working for the State of New Hampshire, he served as a Radio Communications Specialist in the United States Air Force in Washington, D.C. and worked briefly as an Associate Test Engineer for E-Systems, Inc. in Fairfax, Va.  He has been married for 33 years, has two grown children, enjoys bowling, bicycling, scary movies, and loves playing with two grandchildren.
