Meet Your AFC Advisors: Jerry Zarwanski (Connecticut)
AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Jerry Zarwanski is employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection, Division of Statewide Emergency Telecommunications (Division) and has more than 31 years of state service with various state agencies. Under the General Statutes of Connecticut, the Division is responsible for the statewide deployment of NG911 telecommunications services and provides technical telecommunications assistance to state and local police, fire and emergency medical service agencies. The Statute requires the Division to provide frequency coordination for such agencies. Mr. Zarwanski has been an APCO Local Advisor for more than 18 years. Mr. Zarwanski is the Region 19 Chairman for 700/800MHz and 4.9GHz Regional Planning Committees. He is also a member of the Region 8 800MHz Regional Planning Committee and serves on both the Region 8 & 19 Technical Subcommittees. Jerry has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a MBA degree from the University of Hartford.
Jerry lives in Avon, CT with his wife Rhonda and two boys, Jeremy and Kyle. When he is not at work you can find him on the baseball field watching his sons play baseball. He relaxes at a lake house with recreational activities of fishing and boating.
