APCO Seeks Comments on Draft NG9-1-1 Emergency Incident Data Document

APCO International June 6, 2016 APCO

June 6, 2016 – Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments on a Candidate American National Standard (ANS) that provides standardized information exchange between systems.

The Emergency Incident Data Document (EIDD) provides standardized, industry-neutral NIEM conformant (XML-based) specifications for exchanging emergency incident information to agencies and regions that implement NG9-1-1 and IP-based emergency communications systems. Emergency incident information exchanges supported by the EIDD include exchanges between disparate manufacturers’ systems located within one or more public safety agencies and with other incident stakeholders.

“The seamless exchange of data, regardless of vendor platform, geographic boundaries or agency response areas, is a core element of interoperability in an NG9-1-1 environment,” said APCO President Brent Lee. “APCO is pleased to introduce this significant advance in data interoperability.”

The public review and comment period is an important step in the standard development process. This provides an opportunity for all interested parties to review and contribute. The draft standard can be downloaded for review at: https://workspace.apcointl.org/kws/public/document?document_id=683&wg_abbrev=eidd_wg.

Comments must be submitted by July 18, 2016, via the above link and should include the name of the standard, line number in question, existing text and proposed resolution.
