APCO Files Project Initiation Notifications for Two Standard Revisions
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International filed a Project Initiation Notification to revise APCO/ NENA ANS 1.105.1-2010 Standard for Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) Deployment and APCO/NPSTC 1.104.1-2010 Standard Channel Nomenclature for the Public Safety Interoperability Channels.
The revision and re-designation process occurs every five years for all American National Standards. This ensures that all standards are up to date with current trends in operations, training and technology.
“Both of the proposed updates continue APCO’s legacy of providing support to interoperability at multiple levels. Whether guidance for the rapid deployment of trained personnel during major emergencies, or ensuring daily, operational interoperability of radio assets, APCO considers the ability to share resources and technology one of the most important factors in emergency communications,” said John Wright, President of APCO International.
The public review and comment period is an important step in the standard development process. This provides an opportunity for all interested parties to review and contribute. Once completed, these draft standards can be downloaded for review at https://www.apcointl.org/911-resources/standards/call-to-action-review-a-comment.html. Comments on these project proposals must be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] by January 11, 2015.
