MAX Dispatch and Series 4000 Now Support Sprint’s Direct Connect

Company Representative August 17, 2012 Product & Service Announcements

Zetron is offering two new interfaces that connect its MAX Dispatch and Series 4000 systems to the Sprint Direct Connect service. The interfaces provide the benefits of the Zetron systems to Sprint Direct Connect users and also help ease the transition for those who must migrate from iDEN to Sprint Direct Connect before the iDEN network decommissioning is completed in in mid-2013.

Redmond, WA, U.S.A., August 13, 2012― Zetron has partnered with Sprint to develop two interfaces that will connect Zetron’s MAX Dispatch system and Series 4000 to Sprint’s newest Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) push-to-talk (PTT) offering, Sprint Direct Connect (SDC). The new interfaces will not only offer Sprint users the benefits of the Zetron systems, but will also help Sprint customers migrate smoothly and easily from the Sprint iDEN network to the SDC service. In addition to supporting new SDC systems, the interfaces will also support existing iDEN systems that require an upgrade of certain channels to SDC to provide interoperability.

The development of these interfaces is timely because Sprint is decommissioning their iDEN network, a process that may be completed as soon as mid-2013. Although this will require iDEN users to move to the new SDC service, they will benefit from the SDC service’s improved voice quality and faster data speeds as well as its familiar PTT features.

MAX Dispatch SDC interface
The MAX Dispatch SDC interface will deliver the advanced features and benefits of Zetron’s breakthrough MAX Dispatch system to Sprint Direct Connect systems that require dispatch capability. MAX Dispatch offers:
• An innovative graphical user interface that intelligently displays only the information pertinent to a particular incident or operator. This reduces clutter and distractions, helps eliminate errors, and improves response times.
• Dual-network connections that provide complete, end-to-end redundancy.
• The flexibility, expandability and cost-savings of the MAX Dispatch IP-based architecture.
Utilizing the MAX Dispatch system on a SDC network will thus result in a solution that combines the advanced capabilities of the MAX console with those of the newest advanced CDMA network.

Series 4000 SDC interface
Zetron’s Series 4000 SDC interface will provide important benefits to iDEN customers who are using the Series 4000 console and must migrate to the SDC network. These include:
• iDEN-style operations and features that help make the transition to the SDC network seamless.
• The ability to patch iDEN channels to SDC channels as users migrate from one system to the other.
• Channel-patching that is as easy to use as it is on an iDEN system.
• A cost-effective solution that eliminates the need for Series 4000 users to replace their entire console simply because they must migrate to the new SDC network.

“The development of Zetron’s new interfaces to Sprint Direct Connect reflect our commitment to providing solutions that enhance interoperability and compatibility between systems,” said Zetron Vice President of Product Management, Kathy Broadwell. “We are confident that these interfaces will not only extend the benefits of our MAX Dispatch and Series 4000 systems to Sprint Direct Connect users, but will also help those who must migrate to Sprint Direct Connect do so more easily.”
