Kenwood Shows New Digital Dispatch System

Company Representative August 17, 2012 Product & Service Announcements
NEXEDGE and P25 Radio Options at APCO International 2012

(Minneapolis, MN)
For the first time at APCO 2012, Kenwood will be doing demonstrations of the new MAX Dispatch System. The MAX Dispatch system was designed and built from the ground up, allowing for easy upgrades, so agencies can be assured it is built for their future requirements. The MAX is ideal for small to mid-sized agencies with the systems and pricing matched to their needs.  The Kenwood MAX Dispatch system is an end-to-end, IP based telecommunications console system designed for mission-critical dispatch applications. The Kenwood NEXEDGE® MAX Dispatch console system is designed to connect directly to the NEXEDGE® Trunking Repeater System (TRS) via an IP connection. Because MAX Dispatch employs the latest, standards-based IP protocols and IT best practices, it offers the highest levels of interoperability, scalability, and usability. Designed to streamline the console operator’s job and help them to focus on the incident or task at hand, it is also crafted to meet the variable requirements of other personnel who interact with the communications system, including administrators, supervisors, radio and IT technicians.  The system consists of a Windows-based workstation with a MAX Dispatch Media dock, radio gateways that serve as interface devices to mobile radios, base stations and auxiliary controls and a central, host, platform that serves as a host for system management software and as an interface point to third-party devices.  The MAX provides lower cost of ownership and features Intelligent VI to reduce dispatcher response time, avoiding costly mistakes and reducing training time.  It is designed with bullet-proof reliability and system redundancy with dual network connections to maintain system operational uptime as well as assure ease of installation and maintenance, minimizing on site field time and labor costs.

Kenwood also introduces the NEXEDGE NX-200/300 and P25 TK-5220/5320 radios with an Immersion option, ideal for HAZMAT and SAR teams, beach events faced by harbor patrols, including hurricanes and flooding. The IP67 Immersion option is in addition to the eleven MilSpec categories these hard working portables already meet, including driven rain and IP54/55 standards for prevention of water and dust access into the radio’s casing.  This new option, the “W-model”, means that these portables can tolerate being immersed in one meter of water (3 feet) for 30 minutes. That makes these radios ideal for standard operations for waterway patrols or in times of intense weather incidents such as hurricanes and severely inclement weather.

Kenwood’s new International Safety Orange and Yellow case options for NEXEDGE and P25 portables give high visibility to public safety teams. Available with the initial order or as a field retrofit, the bright yellow and vibrant orange enhances personnel safety in low visibility situations including those obscured by smoke or low ambient light.  The colored housings also make it easy to locate lost portables.  Many police, fire, military and EMS agencies are using the colored cases for easy visual identification of different types of user groups.  The cases are available for the P25 TK-5220/5320 and NEXEDGE NX-200/300 portables.

Extreme noise has met its match with the new Kenwood KMC-51M/52W Speaker Mics with advanced DSP Voice Enhancement Technology.  Users can eliminate even the loudest background noise for clear, crisp voice communications in any situation.  The DSP signal analysis incorporated into this speaker mic rapidly analyzes the ambient noise and then adjusts to level changes and types of noise.  That means that your urgent communications will be audible with accuracy even in extreme noise environments.  The KMC-51M/52W also is designed so high noise does not overwhelm the digital vocoder and comes with a tactile PTT for easy use, one-touch channel access, a 360 degree swivel clip and noise-cancel active LED.  The microphone operates in analog and digital modes and is MilSpec certified for C-G and IP/54/55 with the IP67 immersion option available on the KMC-52W model.
