Luna County Central Dispatch went “live” on its New Mexico Department of Public Safety Premier Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system at 10:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.

The CAD system will allow for silent dispatching from the dispatch center’s computer system directly to the officers’ vehicle computer system which will be more effective than radio dispatching. According to Luna County officials, It promotes a paperless initiative which also improves organization of record maintenance and deters most issues involved with public scanners (aka scanville). It will also allow the officers to have immediate access to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety’s system.

The updated technology in dispatch will promote efficiency within the department along with providing necessary compatibility throughout the state,” said Luna County Special Projects Supervisor Glory Johnson who is also assistant to Luna County Manager Kelly Kuenstler.

Cooperation for this procedure came from the Luna County Sheriff’s Office, City of Deming, Luna County IT Departments, Central Dispatch, Deming Police Department, Deming Fire Departments, county fire departments and the Motorola Solutions Inc.
