MELBOURNE, FL/LAS VEGAS, NV, February 22, 2012 (IWCE, Booth #5025)  — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has introduced the Harris microMASTR™ P25 (Project 25) Cell Site — a flexible, signal-enhancing solution to extend radio system coverage for federal, state and local public safety agencies.  The Harris microMASTR P25 Cell Site enhances mission-critical communications capabilities in areas challenged by inadequate system coverage, low population density or difficult terrain.

The Harris microMASTR P25 Cell Site consumes 80 percent less power and is 90 percent smaller than traditional sites, and requires no additional shelter.  It operates on 700 MHz, 800 MHz, VHF and UHF frequencies in both P25 trunked and conventional modes and can act as a stand-alone solution or as part of a larger, multi-site system.  Contained in a single, relatively small, weather-resistant enclosure, the microMASTR can be mounted on poles, walls and other existing structures.

“Tough-to-reach areas have always presented challenges to providing consistent radio coverage. To address this important need, we developed the microMASTR solution,” says Steve Marschilok, president,  Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications.  “The flexible Harris microMASTR solution fills gaps in P25 system coverage, with minimal impact on the environment, and provides reliable, mission-critical communications when users need it, wherever they are.”

The Harris microMASTR P25 Cell Site solution is built on the Harris VIDA® network, a unified IP-based voice and data communication platform. VIDA is interoperable with other P25 systems, including Harris LTE (Long-Term Evolution), P25IP (P25 to the Power of IP), P25 simulcast sites, P25 ISSI and P25 VDOC (Voice and Data on Control).  VIDA delivers full IP management features, including interoperability without intervention of console operators, IP consoles and other benefits inherent in open IP architecture systems.
