Police arrested a 55-year-old man Friday for allegedly making several abusive 911 calls, hindering police response to other emergency calls, police said.

At 10:21 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 7000 block of San Marino. When police determine no crime had taken place, the man who made the report, Wallace Scott, allegedly became belligerent with officers as they tried to leave the home. After officers left, Scott allegedly placed five abusive calls to 911 at 10:21 p.m., 10:55 p.m., 11:12 p.m., 11:14 p.m. and 11:20 p.m.

Police later arrested Scott on suspicion of silent or abusive calls to 911 service. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Police spokesman Darrel Petry said Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings usually generate the largest number of calls to 911.

“These (abusive) types of calls draw from police resources that are needed for authentic emergency calls for service, hindering police responses,” Petry said.
