Zetron’s Acom System Chosen for L.A. County’s New Metro Fire Comm Center

Company Representative July 29, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

Redmond, WA, July 29, 2011 — Zetron, a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions worldwide, announced that its Advanced Communication (Acom) system has been chosen to equip the Los Angeles Fire Department’s new, state-of-the-art Metro Fire Communications (MFC) center. The 63-position Acom will serve as the MFC’s central dispatch and communications system. Acom’s Project 25 (P25) open-standards console subsystems interface (CSSI) will also allow the agency to connect to the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communication System (LA-RICS) when it is established. The new center is slated to begin operations in October of 2011.

Acom meets stringent requirements According to Stella Bairamian, information systems manager for the City of Los Angeles, the Acom system was chosen because it would meet the project’s exacting requirements.

“The Acom system is flexible and able to integrate with our legacy radio infrastructure, CAD system, and other legacy hardware” said Bairamian. “So it is able to address all of our stringent functional requirements. The next most important factor was cost, and of those systems with the capability to meet our requirements, Acom was the most cost effective.”

‘Nothing but accolades’
Shortly after the Acom system was chosen for the project, representatives from L.A. Fire visited Ventura County Fire’s communication center to view the Acom system Ventura County had installed several years ago.

“Ventura County had nothing but accolades for the system and Zetron’s customer service,” said Captain Tom Somers of the LA Fire Department. “My own experiences with Zetron have been similar. Everyone we’ve been involved with at Zetron has provided truly excellent customer service. They’ve done an outstanding job of listening and really hearing us, then finding a way to implement what we need.”
