9-1-1 Industry Alliance to Partner with IJIS Institute

Company Representative July 14, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

Arlington, Va., July 13, 2011 — The 9-1-1 Industry Alliance (9IA) today announced it has joined with the IJIS Institute and an array of organizations involved in justice, public safety and homeland security to jointly harness the expertise of industry in working toward improved public safety and emergency services.  As a member of the IJIS Institute’s Alliance Partner Program, 9IA will collaborate with key practitioner organizations, national associations, other non-profit organizations, and universities.

“When our citizens, residents and visitors call for help,” said 9IA Chairman Kevin Murray, “the response they receive from our nation’s emergency service providers is most effective when these professionals have the latest information and tools at their disposal.  Working in conjunction with the IJIS Institute, 9IA can help to ensure that these tools are in place at all points along the response process.”

The IJIS Institute Alliance Partner program is a means to affirm collaboration and develop joint teams to solve specific problems, or fill needs, to help all organizations better use technology in support of information sharing. “9IA’s mission to represent the emergency communications industry in the development of technology infrastructure and policy, for the good of public safety and the public it serves, merges cleanly with that of the IJIS Institute Alliance Partner Program,” said 9IA Executive Director George Rice.

About the 9-1-1 Industry Alliance
The 9-1-1 Industry Alliance (“9IA”) represents the industry voice of the public safety industry.  Established in December 2005 by a group of prominent leaders of the 9-1-1 industry, the Alliance plays an important role as the voice of industry companies on public policy issues impacting 9-1-1 and the emergency response system.  It is the Alliance’s belief that the expertise of industry leaders can assist public policymakers and government emergency communications professionals as they address complex choices regarding advanced 9-1-1 alternatives in the years ahead.
