Sprint Certifies In Motion Technology on 4G Network

Company Representative June 7, 2011 Product & Service Announcements
onBoard™ Mobile Gateway enables Sprint customers to use Sprint 4G for any device or application

Vancouver, BC, Canada – June  7, 2011 – In Motion Technology, a leader in mobile networking technologies that efficiently connect and manage equipment, information and people in the field, today announced Sprint’s certification of the onBoard™ Mobile Gateway for use on Sprint 4G.

Using Sprint 4G where available, the Gateway enables organizations to quickly and easily deploy multiple high-bandwidth applications including real time video, voice, and data to their vehicle fleets.  The Gateway consolidates traffic over the best available network, and IT teams are able to support the mobile workforce remotely, reducing IT and communications costs.  Mobile workers can effectively collaborate with dispatchers and fleet operations translating into faster response times, and improved customer satisfaction. Already in service with more than 300 first responder, transit and utility organizations, the Gateway turns each vehicle into a secure mobile branch office helping to ensure that the right information is sent to the right place at the right time, increasing the efficiency of the entire mobile workforce.

In Motion’s patented Mobile Wireless Hot Spot System (US Patent #7,382,771) turns each vehicle into a secure, mobile communications hotspot and is at the heart of the Gateway.   This mobile hotspot enables laptops, VoIP handsets/clients, IP cameras, medical devices, tablets, automated license plate readers, PDAs, printers, scanners, and mobile data terminals to communicate securely and reliably over any wired or wireless network in and around the vehicle.  Designed specifically for the mobile environment, the Gateway allows policies to be set on a link by link basis for firewalls, encryption and secure IP mobility technology.

Wayne Ward, vice president of emerging solutions, Sprint, added, “Sprint’s open approach to expanding the M2M ecosystem, flexible and robust networks, and proven ability to execute solutions helps partners and customers benefit from M2M opportunities. Partners like In Motion bring distinct enhancements to our M2M portfolio. Our value proposition is built on streamlining the process of deploying M2M solutions, while enabling customers to tap into our extensive M2M ecosystem, where they can choose from a broad selection of applications and expertise to support their specific objectives.”

“This milestone is part of our ongoing commitment to our customers to provide access to the most advanced wireless networks available today,” said Tony Morris, In Motion Technology’s vice president of sales and marketing.  “The latest 4G technology from Sprint enables businesses to deploy the next generation of mobile applications such as video collaboration to increase field force effectiveness while lowering deployment and operating costs.”

With more than 10 years of experience with machine-to-machine (M2M), Sprint has been at the forefront of this wireless industry revolution, teaming with and supporting a large and diverse portfolio of innovative partners to create smarter wireless solutions. Sprint and its partners have already brought to market a wide array of solutions that feature a host of devices running on its network, which are changing the way people work and live – including benefits to a variety of categories.
