Will County, Ill. Sheriff’s Office selects New World Systems’ more advanced jail management solution

Company Representative May 3, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

Troy, Mich. (May 2, 2011) —  The Will County, Ill. Sheriff’s Office has partnered with an industry leader in Public Safety software for advanced technology to streamline jail management. The Sheriff’s Office has signed a contract to license New World Systems’ Aegis Corrections Management Software on the Microsoft® platform. The new software will replace an aging solution, make inmate information more accessible and provide more options for regional information sharing.

“We’ve outgrown our current system,” said IT Project Manager Don Piwowarski. “We needed a more robust solution that would integrate with dispersed systems throughout the County.”

A team from the Sheriff’s Office conducted a lengthy evaluation of available solutions, ultimately selecting New World based on the Company’s experience and proven solution. According to Sheriff’s Office officials, New World was the only vendor to provide maximum functionality while working with the County to remain within their budget constraints.

“New World’s software met all of the criteria we established and the Company was very willing to work with us,” said Dr. Piwowarski. “Our evaluation team also found the solution to be user friendly and a match for our current structure and processes.”

New World’s Corrections Management solution is developed in-house using proven Microsoft® technology, industry-standard Windows® Server and SQL® Server. Built-in workflow and easy-to-use Windows functionality will automate daily operations for the Will County Sheriff’s Office jail by reducing redundant data entry, improving reporting and providing fast access to inmate information. From booking to release, the software will maintain all critical inmate data including inmate history and tracking, attached documents and mug shots in a single, easily accessible location.

“It’s going to eliminate most of the subsystems built and maintained by our IT staff,” said Dr. Piwowarski. “This will consolidate our information into a single database, decreasing workload duplication and ultimately our reliance on paper.”

New World’s solution will also integrate with other systems used throughout the County to enable the Sheriff’s Office to maintain a key role in building a county integrated criminal justice information network.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking forward to using the software to improve operations in the jail which typically houses 700 to 800 inmates. According to Piwowarski, New World’s software will increase efficiency, provide new solutions, and offer the potential for expansion to other areas of the Sheriff’s Office.
