Register Online to Attend APCO Global Congress in Dubai

Public Safety Communications March 4, 2011 APCO
Top International Companies Will Be Exhibiting

Burj KhalifaOnline registration is now available for the APCO Global Congress in Dubai, UAE. At this new event, public safety and security practitioners in the Middle East will experience the latest in public safety communications technology this June. Hosting the event is the APCO Global Alliance, a coalition of APCO organizations around the world, including the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International, APCO Australasia, APCO Canada and British APCO (BAPCO), dedicated to enhancing  public safety communications. Click here to register to attend this unique international event.

The alliance has assembled an impressive group of international technology companies to exhibit in Dubai. OnStar signed on as the Founding Platinum Sponsor of this event and is joined by additional exhibitors such as Alcatel-Lucent, Harris, Motorola, PowerPhone and Zetron. These companies plan to tap into the region’s growing spending on security technology (Dubai police alone plan to spend Dh500 million on security technology this year).

Attendees of the event will include public safety practitioners from all aspects of the industry including police, civil defense, ambulance and other federal and local government agencies, dispatch centers, emergency management and fire departments. In addition to the dynamic exhibit hall, attendees will participate in the conference program that includes many educational and keynote sessions and two APCO Institute Courses that are regularly offered in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

“Achieving the safety and security goals the region’s governments have implemented will require the support of the cutting-edge public safety communications technology,” said Gavin Hayes, chair of the APCO Global Alliance and vice president of APCO Canada. “It’s our goal to create a place where buyers and sellers of this technology can easily connect in this region.”

At the APCO International Western Regional Conference in February, APCO Executive Director George S. Rice Jr. updated attendees on the development of the event. “The show floor is sold at 50%,” he said. “And sponsorships have been fantastic.”

Rice also addressed concerns attendees might have about traveling to the Middle East during the current political climate. “The Emirates is a wealthy nation and insulated from the politics of the region,” he said, “as is Qatar, which is where we are looking to hold the conference in 2012. Dubia was chosen for numbers flights it has coming in from around the world. It’s more than any other nation. We expect people to be able to get there quite easily.”

APCO Global Congress has received strong support from the Dubai Convention Bureau, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and the Dubai American Business Council.
