NICE Opens Nominations for 2011 PSAPs’ Finest Awards

Company Representative February 11, 2011 APCO, Product & Service Announcements

February 8, 2011 — NICE Systems, the worldwide leader of intent-based solutions that extract insight to impact business performance, reduce financial risk and ensure safety and security, today announced that nominations are now open for the 2011 PSAPs’ Finest Awards. Sponsored by NICE, the PSAPs’ Finest Awards recognize individuals for their exceptional performance and contributions to the field of Public Safety communications. Each year, winners are selected in four PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) categories: Director, Line Supervisor, Technician, and Telecommunicator of the year.

Over the five years the program has been in existence, hundreds of nominations have been received and more than two dozen individuals have been recognized. The winners are chosen by a panel of judges who review the nominations, evaluating each candidate based on his or her exemplary achievements, knowledge, and years of service to Public Safety. The process culminates in an awards ceremony in NICE’s booth at the national APCO conference where the winners are announced.

The 2011 PSAPs’ Finest judging panel includes representatives from a cross-section of the Public Safety industry: Captain Lisa M. Baker (Metro Nashville Emergency Communications Center), Alex Harris (Information Technology Officer, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Riverside, California), Shirlene Skipper, (911 Communications Director, Sumter County, South Carolina), and Barry Ritter, (Executive Director of the Indiana Wireless E9-1-1 Board and former PSAPs’ Finest Director of the Year).

“Public safety communications is on the threshold of a huge transformation with Next Gen 911 – but for all the promise of new technology, we should never lose sight of one thing,” said Eric Hines, VP Security, NICE Systems. “It’s the people behind the technology who are the true lifeline. But more than often, they don’t get the credit they deserve. NICE is proud to continue to sponsor this awards program as a way to recognize the unsung heroes of 911.”
