Vermont Tech Chief Will Head Enhanced 9-1-1 Board

External News Source December 20, 2010 Industry

Montpelier, Vt. — Vermont’s technology chief is taking a job as head of Vermont Enhanced 9-1-1 Board, which oversees the state’s emergency communications system. David Tucker, commissioner of the Department of Information and Innovation, will take over as executive director of the board on Jan. 7.

Vermont’s 9-1-1 system covers the whole state and consists of eight call centers.

The technology merges the caller’s voice with location information so that the calltaker can find the appropriate emergency responder.

Board Chairman and Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux says Tucker is well qualified for the position with his understanding of technology and as a seasoned manager within state government.
