Zetron & PlantCML Celebrate Their Joint Solution for Cumberland County 9-1-1

Company Representative November 16, 2010 Product & Service Announcements

Redmond, Wash. — PlantCML, an EADS North America company, hosted an event Nov. 10, 2010 to celebrate the recently completed upgrade of the CORP25 land mobile radio (LMR) system for Cumberland County, Tenn. The solution, which includes Zetron’s Advanced Communications (Acom) dispatch console system, improves radio coverage and interoperability throughout the area. The Acom console is the most recent addition to the system. According to E9-1-1 director, Bill Hunter, “it will be the cornerstone of our dispatch operations for years to come.”

Open Standards-Compliant
The CORP25 radio network solution is fully compliant with open standards and interoperable with existing conventional VHF radio networks. It allows Project 25 (P25) and non-P25 radios to operate together on one core architecture, giving operators full autonomy and control over the radio network.

Acom for Cumberland County
Zetron’s Acom was chosen as the dispatch console component to utilize with Cumberland County’s CORP25 for several key reasons.

  • Zetron was the console vendor the customer preferred, based on their past experience with Zetron products and services.
  • Acom would provide a direct, digital connection to the PlantCML CORP25 network, thus reducing the number of potential points of failure throughout the system and enhancing its reliability.
  • Acom would utilize the P25 open-standards Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI) to connect to the CORP25 network infrastructure.
  • It would be possible to implement Acom in the tight timeframe the project required.

‘Acom Is Excellent’
The solution went live on September 9, 2010, and is being well received.

“The Acom system is excellent,” said Bill Hunter, Cumberland County E9-1-1 Director. “We’ve used Zetron equipment for about 12 years, and I can’t speak highly enough of its reliability. I’m very pleased with the commitment both Zetron and PlantCML demonstrated toward improving public safety communications in our district. This was the best equipment rollout I’ve seen.”

“We are very pleased that we were able work with PlantCML to provide a state-of-the-art, open-standards radio dispatch solution that has improved the customer’s public-safety communications,” said Ellen O’Hara, President and CEO of Zetron. “We look forward to working on such projects with PlantCML in the future.”

“Cumberland County is very important to us,” said Chuck Sackley, Vice President and General Manager of PlantCML’s LMR business unit. “By combining our CORP25 network and the Zetron Acom console – and with Zetron’s rapid and expert integration – we have provided Cumberland County with a state-of-the-art solution optimized to meet all of their mission-critical communications requirements.”
