VisionAIR & 911-Inc. Demonstrate Live Emergency Texting

Company Representative August 6, 2010 Product & Service Announcements
Public safety professionals receive firsthand look at the texting capabilities of the 911-Inc. QuickResponse software & the VisionAIR VisionCAD system

VisionAIR, provider of the integrated Public Safety Suite of software solutions, and 911-Inc., a national emergency call handling software developer, announced today it successfully received more than 250 text messages this week with the company’s QuickResponse call handling software and the VisionAIR VisionCAD system at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Conference in Houston.

Show attendees sent live emergency text messages from their cell phones at the APCO Conference in Houston, TX. The messages traveled to a datacenter in Denver, CO and then to a remote demonstration Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) position on the APCO show room floor seconds later. Attendees immediately viewed their text messages in the QuickResponse software from 911-Inc. Text messages were then sent back to the attendees from the demonstration PSAP and were received on their cell phones.

To enhance the demonstration even further, the text messages automatically created a new call in the VisionCAD computer-aided dispatch system from VisionAIR.  The cell phone number was automatically pre-populated in the new call window and a “telecommunicator” could continue entering call data from there.

“This technology is truly amazing; it is a breakthrough to be able to demonstrate today how this capability will be available in the future,” said Susan Pettingill, 911 Wireless/MSAG Coordinator for the Orange County Public Safety Communications (FL). “This is one step closer to making Next Generation 9-1-1 a reality in our industry, which will be a great benefit for the public.”

“Our goal is to be ahead of the curve with Next Generation public safety technology. We have achieved that with our QuickResponse software, which is ready for emergency text messaging today,” says Greg Furman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for 911-Inc.

Scott MacDonald, Product Vice President for VisionAIR, said “As we approach the reality of next generation 911, it is critically important that new methods of communicating with the public are incorporated into the emergency operator’s workflow.  By incorporating SMS and MMS messages into the call and incident process, users of VisionCAD will be able to efficiently dispatch responders and arm them with all of the information sent in from citizens.”
