To encourage a coordinated approach and wise investments, the DHS Office of Emergency Communications has launched key initiatives.

LightSquared Squares Off Against Andy Seybold
On Aug. 8, during a session at APCO International’s Conference, LightSquared squared off against Andy Seybold in a presentation attended by about 40 people. Geoffrey Stearn, vice president of spectrum development at LightSquared, addressed the concerns regarding its network’s interference with GPS, attempting to dispel the “myths.”
Public Safety Reacts to FCC Findings
Public safety representatives blasted the FCC’s position and its June 15 white paper, saying that the policy decision preceded the paper and that its findings were designed to justify the position.
