Silent Key: Ron Haraseth
We have learned that Ron Haraseth passed away on February 23 in the company of his wife Judy, son Ben and family. Ron reportedly had suffered a massive stroke earlier in the week, was airlifted to Spokane, and later transferred to hospice care.
Ron, age 68, was a former director of APCO-AFC (1998-2007) and a member of the Montana APCO chapter both pre- and post- employment with APCO. All told, Ron had more than 37 years of experience in the public safety field, the vast majority of which was served overseeing public safety LMR for the State of Montana (1972-1998) while also volunteering for a local Search and Rescue unit. More recently, Ron consulted with Bearing Point (2007-2009) from Montana and worked with SEARCH (2009-2011), providing technical support to interoperability and integration initiatives under the National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics. He was a licensed FCC general radio operator and also held a ham radio license.
According to close family friends, no memorial service will be held; rather, plans are to spread his ashes in Ron’s beloved Montana mountains during one last metaphorical ride with his motorcycle buddies this summer.
