Meet Your AFC Advisors: Ken Yoder (Texas)
AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Please feel free to reach out to our local advisors with any questions dealing with FCC Part 90 licensing and frequency coordination.
Ken has been an APCO frequency advisor for the past 31 years and has received training in all aspects of the AFC training requirements. He has received the APCO Senior Member award as well as the APCO Life member designation. Prior to joining APCO Ken had exclusive communications training starting in 1954 when he joined the Army, where his training in radio operation and equipment repair provided him with all the current basics during that period. After six years he departed the Army for civilian life only to join the Air National Guard in Ohio. Then in 1968 was called into service and spent 13 months in Korea. This enabled him to remain in the USAF where he became a Frequency Manager in The Air Force Communication Command. He served in the USA and Europe until he retired in 1985. During that time period he planned several communications deployment of HF, VHF, UHF, Microwave and aircraft communications which was paramount to Life and propriety.
