APCO Seeks Workgroup Members to Create a Standard for the Use of TTY/TDD or Similar Devices in the Comm Center
Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International filed a Project Initiation Notification to create Minimum Operational Standards for the Use of TTY/TDD or similar device in the public safety communications center.
Candidate APCO ANS 1.108.1-201x is intended to assist Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) Managers with the minimum operational guidelines for the use of TTY/TDD or similar devices.
APCO International is seeking volunteers to become members of a workgroup that will write this standard. The workgroup will be under the direction of the APCO Standards Development Committee (SDC) and the workgroup lead will report to the chair of the SDC. APCO is seeking diverse participants with backgrounds in PSAP operations and management, technologists, and general interest participants such as government agencies and entities. Preference will be given to those with specific knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its requirements. The SDC has limited the size of the group to no more than 15 people and will conduct a selection process once the application deadline is reached..
