Alexandria, Va. – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) welcomed Jessica Rosenworcel to its Alexandria, Va., office, in her first meeting with the public safety community since being sworn in as a commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The event also marked the first time an active FCC commissioner has visited the APCO International office.
During the meeting, Commissioner Rosenworcel heard from APCO President Gregg Riddle and APCO Second Vice President Gigi Smith about APCO’s priorities concerning public safety communications.
“APCO International is delighted to host such an esteemed and experienced public official,” said President Gregg Riddle. He continued, “during her time as senior communications counsel for the Senate Commerce Committee, Commissioner Rosenworcel was involved in the development of the public safety broadband legislation. We are excited to see her continue to shape public safety policy in her new role as FCC Commissioner.”
Gigi Smith, Police Operations Manager for the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center and APCO second vice president added, “APCO remains committed to continuing our national leadership role in public safety communications. To that end, we look forward to working with Commissioner Rosenworcel and the rest of the Commission to ensure the needs of the public safety community are met.”
