Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communication Center Celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week was April 8-14. To celebrate and honor our dedicated dispatchers, Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communication Center held fun activities each day of the week on all shifts.
The center began the celebration on Monday with a mini Easter celebration that included Easter Eggs and decorating sugar cookies. Everyone was provided with everything they needed to decorate their cookie. Eating the cookie was as much fun as decorating them.
The next day was pizza day. Each shift was rewarded with all the pizza they could eat.
Wednesday was celebrated in Mardi Gras style. Dispatchers displayed their crafting skills by decorating their own Mardi Gras mask. Yes, of course we had Mardi Gras beads. Dispatchers earned their Mardi Gras beads by answering fun Mardi Gras trivia questions.
Thursday was dispatcher Olympics. The dispatch floor’s open space was turned in to a dispatch stadium of fun. Participating dispatchers showed off their physical skills and accuracy in bowling, miniature golf, bean bag toss and tennis ball target toss. Participants earned points and bragging rights. Each dispatcher’s name was placed in a raffle drawing. Terrific prizes were provided by vendors and the police and fire agencies our Center serves. Some of the prizes included portfolios, hats and shirts.
The week ended with red, white and blue day. The Center’s administration prepared a marvelous BBQ lunch featuring hotdogs and cheese burgers. Chef Mike our Fire Operations Manager makes the best BBQ in town.
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week was a fun way to celebrate our dispatchers and let each of them know how much we appreciate them and their continued dedication to this profession.
