APCO Webinar: $7 Billion and 20 MHz: Congress Enacts Legislation to Build a Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network
Please join APCO’s Government Relations team on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 11 a.m. Eastern for a free webinar to find out what you need to know about Title VI, the Public Safety Spectrum section of H.R. 3630; Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012. The bill tackles myriad issues, including the allocation of the D Block Spectrum to public safety, the establishment of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) to manage the build out of a nationwide public safety broadband network (PSBN), a $7 billion grant program to fund the PSBN build out, an additional $135 million grant program to assist state and local planning and implementation of the PSBN, $115 million for Next Generation 9-1-1, and the give back of T-Band public safety spectrum between 470–512 MHz. During the one-hour seminar, APCO Past President Richard Mirgon and Andy Seybold, vice chair of APCO’s Broadband Committee, will accompany APCO’s Government Relations team as we walk our members through the key components of the bill.
The information discussed on Wednesday will serve as a precursor to a more in-depth discussion on the future of public safety communications at APCO’s second annual Public Safety Broadband Summit & Expo held at the Renaissance Washington on May 14–15.
